WHA Administration
The Winder Housing Authority operates some 325 public housing units in the City of Winder and surrounding areas. Their goal is to provide safe, affordable housing to eligible lower income residents, as well as recreation and other amenities. The primary source of funding is the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the authority is operated under HUD guidelines.
The City of Winder appoints five (5) volunteer directors to the Housing Authority Board. One member of the board is appointed from among the tenants of the Authority. Members of the Winder Housing Authority Board serve terms of office of 5 years.

The WHA Board of Commissioners meets on the third Monday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at the Authority’s Central Office located at
11 Horton Street in Winder. WHA Executive Director,
Michelle Yawn, serves as Secretary of the Board of Commissioners, but has no vote on policy matters. Meetings are open to the public. |
