Wimberly Center to Limit Rentals to Tenants Only Beginning January 1, 2025

Winder, GA – The Wimberly Center for Community Development announces an important update regarding use of its event spaces. Beginning January 1, 2025, the Wimberly Center will rent its facilities exclusively to current Wimberly Center tenants and Winder Housing Authority (WHA) tenants.

This change is part of an effort to better serve the Center’s resident organizations and the WHA community by ensuring easier access to meeting, training, and event space. Public rentals for individuals and outside groups will no longer be available after December 31, 2024.

“The Wimberly Center was created to support community organizations and the residents we serve,” said Michelle Yawn, Executive Director of Winder Housing Authority. “By prioritizing our tenants, we can help foster greater collaboration, resource sharing, and programming that benefits the community as a whole.”

Wimberly Center leadership acknowledges the community’s past support and understands that this change may affect some organizations and individuals who have historically utilized the Center’s spaces for private events. However, leadership emphasizes that this policy adjustment is necessary to fulfill the Center’s long-term vision of being a true hub for collaboration, learning, and service delivery among its tenants and the broader WHA community.

Current tenants of the Wimberly Center and WHA residents who are interested in reserving space for events in 2025 are encouraged to contact the Wimberly Center office early to ensure availability.
